Business Woman Inspires a Community
By Mary Jane Hanron
Many customers and members of the community are
familiar with the Spring Event at King Jewelers Inc. which celebrates
the season’s arrival with its annual Daffodil Days festivities to
benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS). Also showcased is a preview
of new and spectacular jewelry for the upcoming season. Not all who
attend or partake in the festivities are aware of why the cause is so
important to the King family, owners of the business. The annual event
was held recently at the Kings store at 812 3A in Cohasset. This affair
holds particular meaning to the family as June King is a cancer
survivor and is currently celebrating eighteen years of being cancer
free.
2008 is the fifth year the store has celebrated Daffodil Days.
According to those at the South Shore headquarters of the ACS, the
event at Kings is the only one of its kind in the area. The general
public is able to come in and purchase daffodil bouquets while enjoying
light refreshments and viewing new jewelry designs for the upcoming
season. Among the array of baubles on view this year was a collection
of dazzling yellow diamonds as well as the intricate and spectacular
designs of Maryann Englander of Dragonfly studios.
