King Jewelers and Chelsea Clock Company: Partners In Time
Clocks always have been natural complements to gems in fine jewelry
stores. They adorn a home or office as finely as splendid jewels bedeck
a wrist, neck or finger. An assortment of such tasteful accessories is
available at King Jewelers, Inc. today as it has been in the past.
As
King’s approaches the first anniversary of its newly built Route 3A
store, the company celebrates many factors in its role as a
distinguished, leading jeweler in the region. Among those factors is a
longstanding association with the Chelsea Clock Company, premier clock
maker of the United States.
Spanning several decades, these two
prestigious New England companies have been connected through business,
history, and of course, the sea. The display of Chelsea clocks found at
King is impressive. From limited-edition show pieces, classic nautical
clocks and barometers, to contemporary designs and the exclusive “By
the Sea” collection of desk clocks it is possible to select a finely
crafted clock for anyone.
“The South Shore is expanding so much
its important that we offer world-class shopping and choices not seen
everywhere to our community,” said Valerie King, treasurer. “Chelsea is
the perfect company to work with to achieve this with clocks. We can
sell a product made locally in Chelsea, Massachusetts by a dependable
company with values very similar to ours. Both Chelsea and King’s
believe in offering the best and most beautiful products, the most
knowledgeable staff and the most extraordinary service. These standards
for excellence are rare. We see them everyday as we work with Chelsea
and can share them with our customers. Chelsea also knows it’s
important to offer new things while still having timeless classics
available. Clearly we are following the same path.”
Recently,
King took her staff to Chelsea for a private tour of the headquarters
led by Terry Kubarsky, of the prestigious clock company. Heidi King
Hickey described the opportunity to see the clock-making process
firsthand as “fascinating. You imagine how many people have worked at
these machines, touched these walls or been part of making someone’s
clock all these years. It’s as though when you buy a Chelsea, you are
buying a clock made just for you because every piece is assembled by
hand.”
Captivating facts about the clocks add to their
mystique. For example, a ships bell mechanism has 365 parts that are
all created in the factory and is gold plated. The workmanship, detail
and precision are extraordinary.
J.K. Nicholas, president of
Chelsea Clock said, “It was great to have the Kings visit. We are at an
exciting point as we move the company forward, offer new designs, and
proclaim to the world that we are the finest American clock company.
Having a store like King’s as a showcase is wonderful. Our commitment
to each other is mutual. We want to reach outward and King does that so
well. “
King plans a June event with Chelsea celebrating these
two businesses so rich in New England history and so dedicated to its
future. King Jewelers and Chelsea Clock Company: Partners In Time Left
