JEWELRY WITH A HISTORY

Estate, vintage and antique jewelry are mystical in a sense. The joy they give lies in their beauty and history. If they could talk, just think of the stories they could tell you about style, romance and time-honored values.

Each piece is unique, crafted by jewelers who believed that fine jewelry ought to be luxurious and original.

ANTIQUE ENGAGEMENT RINGS AND VINTAGE RINGS

Antique rings make perfect engagement rings as well as heartfelt gifts for any special occasion. Many couples choose to begin their futures with an engagement ring from the past. An antique ring brings a certain romanticism with it since it reflects a certain era or time period and because of its endurance throughout the years. Quality, distinctiveness and beauty are also reasons why couples choose an antique engagement ring. They may also see the uniqueness as compared to their relationship. Because antique engagement rings are an ethical and eco-friendly choice, they can truly represent the values that underlie your relationship.

A GUIDE TO ESTATE, VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE JEWELRY

ART DECO JEWELRY
Circa 1920-1930. Stylish and fun. Bright colors and geometric patterns expressed the confident and free-thinking tenor of the Roaring 1920s.

RETRO JEWELRY
Circa 1930s-1950. Bold and dazzling. With Hollywood in its golden age, jewelry became bigger, almost larger-than-life.

EDWARDIAN JEWELRY
Circa 1901-1920. Graceful and elegant. In the Edwardian era, jewelers used filigree techniques to give their jewelry a wonderfully lacy look.

ART NOUVEAU JEWELRY
Circa 1890-1910. Soft and mystical. Art Nouveau jewelers, thinking of themselves as artists, took extra care to craft beautiful settings.

GEORGIAN JEWELRY
Circa 1714-1837. Opulent and regal. Early styles were ornate while later styles ranged from Neoclassical to Gothic. Georgian jewelry is extremely rare today.

VICTORIAN JEWELRY
Circa 1837-1901. Named for Queen Victoria of England. Jewelry from the era is as exquisite as it is varied, reflecting Victoria’s changing tastes.

THE DISTINCTION AMONG ESTATE, ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE JEWELRY

Estate jewelry is usually acquired from estates and may often be antique or vintage in nature.

Antique jewelry is jewelry that has been previously owned and was made over 100 years ago from the present year.

Vintage Jewelry usually refers to jewelry that is at least 20-30 years old, but less than 100 years old, and has been previously owned.
