Our Team – King Jewelers
Valerie King, Co-Owner and Manager
Valerie King is the co-owner and manager of King Jewelers. Since she was 18, Valerie has been helping customers find unique jewelry to compliment their style and wardrobe. Valerie’s love of people and dedication to her profession is evident to all who meet her. She credits her knowledge of running a business and the talent to identify quality jewelry to her dad, Forrest, who also taught her the value of exemplary customer service and the importance of giving back to the community.
Her innate gift to work with numbers presents Valerie with the foresight to keep the business on track financially and the ability to preserve her father and grandfather’s vision — to make King Jewelers the South Shore’s #1 jewelry destination. Her passion to preserve this vision as the company evolves and grows is her greatest accomplishment.

Melanie Roake, Senior Sales Associate
At a young age, I remember sitting on the floor of my mom’s office and looking at the jewelry she kept in velvety jewelry wraps. I thought I discovered buried treasures. That’s when jewelry began to captivate my imagination.
Like most of the King women before me, I worked in the store learning the business. Eventually, I moved away to attend the University of Vermont where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Entrepreneurship. My dream was to open my own business. Never for a moment did I think I would follow in my mom’s and my Aunt Val’s footsteps. But as a 4th generation King woman, it was in the stars.
Looking back on the day I found my “buried treasure” in my mom’s office, I knew then how emotional seeing, feeling and buying jewelry can be. I believe that dreams do come true each time I help my customer select a piece of jewelry to celebrate a milestone, such as choosing an engagement ring, creating a fingerprint impression, custom designing a new piece of jewelry or revitalizing an heirloom piece. My reward is sharing their joy and being a part of their treasured moments.
Currently, I am working on my GIA to become a Gemologist (of course, just like my mom!)
I am married to my best friend, Barrett. We have two beautiful, silly, crazy and fun boys, Forrest and Finn. On my days off in the summer you will find us by the seashore, and in the winter, on the slopes of Ragged Mountain!
