5 Tips When Buying your Wedding Bands

Tip #1

Always wear your engagement ring when selecting your wedding band so that you know how the rings fit together, and how they touch each other to ensure that your wedding band and engagement ring fit properly.

Tip #2

Keep your lifestyle or job in mind. There are many metals to choose from — especially for men — white gold, rose gold, yellow gold, platinum, titanium and stainless steel are the most common. Depending on your lifestyle or job, there are specific styles and metals that we can recommend. For instance, if you work with your hands, we might suggest a wedding band with gemstones that are channel set to protect them. Or we may even suggest a different shape band.

If you’re super-active, you might want to select platinum, which is extra durable (when scratched, the metal is merely displaced and doesn’t actually wear away). In either case, we can guide you in making the right selection.

Tip #3

Mix it up.  Don’t be afraid to mix metals. You don’t have to select the same metal as your engagement ring or your partner’s wedding band. Many people will add gems to their bands, such as diamonds, in an eternity pattern or both.

Tip #4

Get sentimental.  Engrave the inside of your wedding bands with your names, date or a special message to each other. Be sure to allow 3-4 weeks for engraving. Please give us a call at 781-383-1755 us to let us know the special message you would like engraved on your wedding bands.

Tip #5

Tradition.  Tradition. There are plain wedding bands, carved or etched wedding bands, braided wedding bands and Celtic styles. Some are embellished with diamonds or other precious stones. In most cases, it is purely personal preference, but some of these styles have symbolic or religious significance. For example, traditional Jewish weddings require a plain gold wedding band because it is an unbroken circle symbolizing the bond of marriage, and Celtic wedding bands incorporate ancient and powerful cultural emblems of commitment, making them a popular choice even among people without Celtic heritage

Above all, the key is to select a wedding band that you love and can live with forever — one that reflects your personality and relationship.
